Ron Chadwick


Ron Chadwick started flying at fourteen and soloed a J-5 Cub in the Spring of 1964. He entered the AFROTC program at Michigan State University, was commissioned in June of 66' and began Undergraduate Pilot Training at Webb AFB, Big Spring, Texas. After UPT he selected F-100 Combat Crew Training at Luke AFB and upon graduation was assigned to the 401st Tactical Fighter Wing at Torrejon AB, Spain. From there, he completed a tour in Vietnam at Phan Rang AB. Thirteen months and 225 combat missions later it was back stateside and separation from the Air Force.

Returning to Michigan, Ron flew for Excello Corporation, General Motors Air Transport Section and did some flight instructing until he was hired by Eastern Airlines in March of 1973. The Family moved to New Jersey, and Ron joined the Air National Guard flying the F-105. Eastern Airlines "closed its doors" in 1991 and Ron flew for APA and Pan Am until they too terminated service in the Summer of 1996.

For the next fifteen years he ran the landscaping firm he started in the early 70's and competed in aerobatic contests throughout the Northeast. In late Fall of 2010 Ron closed the landscaping business and moved to Scottdale, Arizona where he now lives with his wife of 44 years.
